1. Who we are

TapAPI (Pty) Ltd runs the TapAPI wallet. Our Information Officer is William Matthews (help@tapapi.co.za). We are registered with the Information Regulator (South Africa), registration 2026-061457.

2. What we collect, and why

• Your ID details — name, ID number, and the photos taken when you scan your ID. The law says we must know who you are.
• Your cell number — so people can send you money and vendors can find your wallet.
• Your card and tag numbers — the chip numbers of the cards, wristbands, and tags on your wallet. That is how tapping works.
• Your payments — every payment is written down. That is your statement, and the law needs the record.

That is all. No biometrics are kept. Nothing is sold. Nothing goes to advertisers.

3. Who sees your details

• Netcash — processes card and bank payments when money is loaded.
• Our SMS provider — sends you messages, and sees only your cell number.
• The law — if a court or the law demands records, we must give them.

Nobody else. Vendors see only your first name when you pay.

4. How long we keep it

Money laws make every payment company keep records for five years. After that, records are deleted.

5. Your rights

You may ask to see, fix, or delete your details at any time: help@tapapi.co.za. Records the law forces us to keep can only be deleted when the law allows. If you are unhappy with our answer, you may complain to the Information Regulator (inforeg.org.za).

6. How we protect it

Your details live on secured servers in encrypted form. Your PIN is never stored as-is — only in a form that cannot be read back.
