Terms of use

TapAPI (Pty) Ltd · CIPC 2026/529514/07 · In force from 13 July 2026

1. What TapAPI is

TapAPI is a closed-loop prepaid wallet. Your money works at TapAPI vendors. TapAPI is not a bank. Your wallet is not a bank account. Your balance earns no interest.

2. Who can hold a wallet

3. Your PIN and your tags

4. What you may not do

If you break these rules, we may block your wallet while we look into it. Money that is truly yours stays yours.

4A. Anonymous tags

You can buy a tag from a vendor without showing any documents and without a phone. The money lives on the tag. An anonymous tag holds at most R1 000, pays at most R200 in one payment, and at most R500 in one day. It cannot send money to other people. If you want higher limits, link your ID at any vendor — the tag then joins a full wallet.

5. Limits

Wallets have daily limits and a limit per payment. Limits protect you if your card is lost. Current limits show in your wallet.

6. Mistakes and disputes

Check your statement. If something looks wrong, tell us within 30 days at help@tapapi.co.za or at any vendor. We will look into it and answer you.

7. Closing your wallet

You may close your wallet at any time. Spend your balance first, or ask us to move it. Some records must stay for a while — the money laws say so.

8. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, we tell you 30 days before, in your wallet and on this page.

9. The law

South African law applies. Disputes go to South African courts.
