Pay with a tap. Run your shop from your phone. Help people open wallets.
Bring in shops and sellers. Or sell wristbands and keep the difference. You will always see
what you pay, in rand, before you pay it — and here is where every rand goes.

Voucher money is paid once the supplier settles with us at the end of the
month. You watch it building up in your wallet before then. Small sales count too — anything
under a cent is kept and added to the next one.

The R25 and the R5 land the moment the upgrade goes through. Cashback on airtime, data and electricity is different: it shows in your wallet first and can be used from the Friday after
next — at least a week later. That week is why: if a sale is reversed in that time,
nobody has been paid for money that went back. Buying a wristband from a seller instead
of from TapAPI? Then the seller keeps the difference and nobody else is paid — that is what
their price already covers.
Which one are you?
There are three,
and they are not exclusive — a shop owner is also a holder. Start where you are.
1 · You use it
HolderAnyone with a cell number
You earn on what you buy. A free wallet. Pay from the wallet itself, or link your
SA Smart ID or a TapAPI wristband and tap. Buy airtime, data, electricity and
vouchers straight from the wallet. No stock, nothing to sell, nothing to set up.
You get back: on airtime, data and electricity TapAPI keeps half of
what it earns and gives you the other half — you keep 45%, and 5% goes to whoever
brought you in. On vouchers you get 20c back on every R100, paid when the voucher
supplier settles at month end. Upgrading to a shop or agent is R95 once off, and R25 goes
to whoever signed you up.
A business
with a counter, or somebody selling wristbands where people gather. Both earn on what crosses their
hands.
ShopBusiness with a till
The free TapAPI Till app takes payment with a tap, takes cash and puts it into a
customer’s wallet, and orders stock to your nearest PAXI point. Money goes straight into
your business wallet as you sell.
You earn:R25 every shop or agent you upgrade at your
counter, and R2 on every R100 of airtime, data, electricity and vouchers you sell.
The second one repeats: the same customers come back.
ANDROID Your phone must be able to tap.
If it cannot tap, it cannot be a till.
Buy wristbands at the bulk price and sell them where people are: a taxi rank, a school gate,
a church, a stokvel. Sealed packets — the buyer sets it up themselves with the code on the
card inside. You need no tap phone, no till, no app and no starting balance.
You earn:R27.00 a wristband. You pay R48 (or R45 from 100),
they pay R75.00, and the difference is yours the moment you sell it.
10 bands: R480 + R59.95 delivery → sells for R750 = R210.05
100 bands: R4 500 + R260 delivery → sells for R7 500 = R2 740
One bag, one delivery fee — the more in it, the less each band costs you.
Magic tags and Tip Me badges come at trade price from ten as well: a Magic tag is R23 and sells for R49.99 (R26.99 yours), a Tip Me badge is R23 and sells for R35 (R12.00 yours). Mix them in the same bag, one delivery.
START AT 10 R48 a band for the first 50 sellers.
Order again within 30 days to keep the price.
ANY PHONE A wallet with your cell number, and stock.
Not a shop — you are the counter. Open wallets for people and link their
SA Smart IDs, right where they stand. They give you the cash; their wallet is credited
from your working balance. That balance is your stock, the same as airtime: you spend it,
the cash replaces it, you go again.
You earn two ways: R25 every shop or agent you upgrade — in your wallet the moment it happens. R2 on every R100 of airtime, data, electricity and vouchers you sell — paid after
month end, every month you sell.
Each upgrade: R95 cash in your hand · R70 off your balance ·
R25 yours. R500 to start covers about 6 upgrades.
Upgrading is one-off — a shop upgrades once. Selling is not: the same customer buys
airtime again next week. At R2 per R100, R1 000 of sales pays R20. What you sell
is up to you and your area.
ANDROID + NFC A verified wallet and money to start with.
Know shop owners, taxi people, church groups, stokvels? Bring them in. Once somebody joins
through you they stay linked to you, and you carry no stock and sell nothing. This is not a
separate job — it runs alongside whatever else you do.
You earn, for as long as they trade: 40c on every R100 of airtime, data, electricity and vouchers that shop sells. R5 every time they upgrade somebody to a shop or agent — paid the moment
it happens. R10 every wristband they buy from TapAPI. 5% of TapAPI’s margin on the airtime, data, electricity and vouchers they buy.
A shop doing 20 links a month is R80 to you. The 5% keeps paying
every month they keep buying, without you doing anything.
No wallet yet? You can still refer a shop. Open one
with the same number later and everyone you brought in attaches to it.
Move the sliders to what you think you can really do. Every rate below is the rate TapAPI actually pays — the sums are shown so you can check them.

This is arithmetic, not a
promise. What you earn depends entirely on how many people you actually reach. Delivery is
already taken off the wristband line. Nothing here counts money you have not worked for.
More ways to earn
Wristbands are where the numbers get bigger
Becoming a shop or agent is R95 and needs your ID — a Smart ID, a green ID book or a driver’s licence. A wristband needs neither — anyone can
use one, at any age, with no ID and no phone:
🏫
SchoolsParents put money in the learner’s wallet and the learner taps their
wristband at the tuck shop. No cash to lose — and the tuck shop becomes your customer too.
🚐
TaxisPassengers tap their wristband to pay the fare, and the fare goes into the
driver’s TapAPI wallet.
🏪
The streetTuck shops, spazas and phone-repair shops carry wristbands and sell them on to
their own customers.
One thing to know about wristbands.
If someone opens a wallet with a wristband alone — no SA Smart ID and no cell
number — then the wristband is the only key to that money. Lose it and there is no way to
prove it was theirs. Always add a cell number for recovery. It takes a minute and it is
the difference between a lost band and lost money.
Can your phone do it?
The check takes 30 seconds, asks for nothing and saves nothing. Two honest answers:
Your phone can tap? It can be a full till — sell, link SA Smart IDs and
hand out wristbands.
It cannot tap? You cannot run a till, but you can still open a full wallet, sell
wristbands, and earn by bringing people in. No tap needed for either.
