Sell wristbands and Tip Me badges where people gather, run a till on your phone, open wallets for people as an agent, or bring shops in and earn on what they sell. It starts with a free wallet on your cell number; becoming a shop or agent costs R95 once. The main rates TapAPI pays are shown here in rand.

Buy sealed TapAPI wristbands from 10 at a time and sell them where people gather: a taxi rank, a school gate, a church, a stokvel. You pay R48 a band (R45 from 100) and sell at R75; the difference is yours the moment you sell. The R48 price is for the first 50 sellers: order again within 30 days to keep it. The buyer sets the band up with the code on the card inside.
You need: A free wallet and stock. No till, no tap phone, no app, no ID.
10 wristbands: R480 + R59.95 delivery, sold for R750 = R210.05 yours. Magic tags (R23, sells for R49.99) and Tip Me badges (R23, sells for R35) come at the reseller price from ten as well, in the same bag.
Order 10 wristbandsCar guards, waiters, petrol attendants, hairdressers and buskers wear a Tip Me badge so that people can tip them by phone, even with no cash on them. You sell each badge for R35. The person who buys a badge from you scans it to link it to their own TapAPI wallet, and their tips land there.
Your price is R23 a badge from 10, with a reseller slot. There are 50 reseller slots: sign in to your TapAPI wallet on the order page and pay from it to use one. Paid by card, EFT or PayShap, a badge is R35, or R23 from 100.
You need: A free wallet and stock. No till, no tap phone, no app, no ID.
10 Tip Me badges with a reseller slot: R230 + R59.95 delivery, sold for R350 = R60.05 yours.
Order 10 Tip Me badgesThe free TapAPI Till app turns an Android phone that can tap into a till. It takes payment with a tap, puts a customer’s cash into their wallet, and orders stock to your nearest PAXI point. You also earn R25 when someone pays R95 at your counter to become a shop or agent.
You need: An Android phone that can tap, and your ID (Smart ID, green ID book or driver’s licence). R95 once to become a shop, and your own till comes with it. Only an extra or external till, such as a phone you invite for a cashier, costs R25.25 for each day it is used (R25.30 from 20 November 2026).
R1 000 of airtime, data and electricity sold = R20 yours. What you sell depends on you and your area.
Can my phone tap?You go to people: open wallets and link their SA Smart IDs where they stand. They give you cash and their wallet is credited from your working balance, which is your stock, the same as airtime. You also earn R25 when someone you sign up pays R95 to become a shop or agent; opening a free wallet for someone earns nothing by itself.
You need: An Android phone that can tap, a verified wallet, your ID, R95 once to become an agent (an agent opens a shop, so your own till comes with it), and money to start with (loading money into your wallet has a fee).
Each upgrade you do: R95 cash in your hand, R70 off your balance, R25 yours.
Can my phone tap?Know shop owners, taxi people, church groups or stokvels? Once a shop joins through you, it stays linked to you for as long as it trades. You carry no stock and sell nothing; it runs alongside whatever else you do.
You need: A cell number is enough to start.
Also R5 each time a shop you brought in upgrades somebody to a shop or agent.
Invite a shopThey are not exclusive: a shop owner can sell wristbands and bring other shops in too.
On your cell number, in your phone’s browser. No app, no monthly fee. Open a free wallet.
Order your first 10 wristbands, check that your phone can tap for a till, or share your link with a shop you know.
Upgrade earnings and wristband margin are yours straight away; airtime, data, electricity and voucher earnings are paid later. Spend at any TapAPI shop, or send to your bank for a fee once your ID is verified.
No. TapAPI pays no salary and nothing just for joining. You earn on what you and your shops sell, and when someone you sign up pays to become a shop or agent, at the rates on this page.
The wallet is free, with no monthly fee. Reselling needs only stock: 10 wristbands are R480, or 10 Tip Me badges R230 with a reseller slot, plus R59.95 delivery to a PAXI point. Becoming a shop or agent is R95 once and needs your ID, and your own till comes with it; only an extra or external till costs R25.25 for each day it is used (R25.30 from 20 November 2026). An agent needs money to start with. Loading money into a wallet has a fee.
Not for the wallet or for reselling: the wallet runs in your phone’s browser. A shop’s till is the free TapAPI Till app on an Android phone that can tap.
The R25 and R5 for an upgrade land in your wallet the moment it goes through. The margin on a wristband is yours when you sell it. Earnings on airtime, data, electricity and vouchers show in your wallet first and are paid later, not on the day of the sale. Sending money to your bank has a fee.
That depends on how many people you reach and what they buy. The rates on this page are what TapAPI pays; nothing here is a promise of an income.
Reselling and bringing shops in work on any phone. A till or an agent needs an Android phone that can tap. Check your phone in 30 seconds.
These are the main rates TapAPI pays and the sums behind them, not a promise: what you earn depends on how many people you reach and what they buy. TapAPI is a closed-loop wallet, not a bank account. More rates and rules are on the earnings page.
